As a new wave of success from the board, the kids took it into a style, being a "skater" wasn't just a thing you did, Its a style. Surfer and band T's, beat up shoes and long hair. This look was a big thing in the 70's especially.
As of the year 2000 Its taken a more street "hood" look. The skaters demand respect and lets face it, We don't get much. Skaters dress in such a way, that the world see's us as a threat, We look like "no gooders", "dead enders" and have attracted alot of hate from urban comunitys. Although not much to support this fear as a reality i think it false. So they make an image of themselves that's almost never real, but its the idea of themselves that the want to ensue on YOU more than anyone. After the first competition the first skaters knew that this wasnt going to marret much response when safety and know how became an unknown enemy of new skaters. Basically it just made the board seem like a risk more than a ride. Lucky people like the Zephyr skate team in CA. Werent about to stop, when the waves eased up, the streets took off. This would globalize as a new LIFE for some people in the world today.

Jump start #4
Now I'm jumping ahead in this but its important to note the vast difference. Right now in France and several European countries people have created a "roller suit". This picture, taken August 9Th 2009, of Jean-Yves Blondeau earned him the name "Roller man" for testing this suit. They have 33 wheels overall, connecting the joints, hands feet chest and back. There's no part of his body that isn't supported. Although extraordinarily risky it seems to be a smash hit in other countries.now compare the fact a french man can now "fly" inches above the ground in a suit that can pass a motor cycle in a highway, To the clay wheels and planks it was born from 30 years ago. This is INNOVATION. Have you ever heard them say "get a bigger hammer, basic innovation" Well here we are at the cusp of something big. Wing suits, are protected flying suits people use to fly like a squirrel thousands of feet skimming mountain tops in the Alps. These all seem to stem from when surfers went skater. The transition from skating to surfing was huge the surfers skate like its a surfboard and the same is true of skaters, they surf like its a skateboard. But the variation on riding style kept the crowd happy for a long time, and now we have sky divers and body skaters. skateboarding has mainly become a venue for an adrenaline junkie's fix, rather than a game. Iv done extensive study on these things cause its a great interest, maybe a tangent but as a skater i think it only supportive of my accusations that i admit it looks like a crazy good time.
