Now these kids in Afghanistan are skating up a Storm, its easy to find an article on it these days just because its taking off like the 70's did. Sure the economy and government may not be as stable as ours was but that doesn't change how the kids feel. Kids in America are catching it too, but we have things like the carving stick a two wheeled contraption, or the flow boards, and 18 wheeled board. These are designed with adults in mind honestly. Its other adults who remember what it was like having a board as a kid and how the boarded, but they wont leave it up to the kids to lean how to skate like mom and dad. These boards require a level of balance and control that only a surfer or long boarder would have, kind of a way to "shape up" the American youth today as well. Personally i think its a great idea and an interesting cause its ALMOST like being tricked into it, but its just too good to say no too.

Skateboarding being taught in schools for GYM CREDIT, even if Afghanistan people talk about making a school specifically FOR skating. The biggest part of kids skating i suppose is the money adults make from it. The relentless horde of kids want a place to skate, better equipment, its endless. Human nature tells us to "innovate". This key to innovation, we all know it, is "get a bigger freaking hammer" or in this case a better board for the people.

Iv just looked into and found many organizations teaching kids from around the world to skateboard. Mostly as a publicity stunt to show them we want to help. Kids from Afghanistan can be seen wearing full afghan clothing trying to skateboard on a factory made half pipe we have flown out there and built for them. This brought up something iv heard a lot about, skateboarding in the MILITARY. People may laugh at this but its technical term is an "Urban Combat skateboard" Its the only foolproof way of moving fast when you need to run, chase, find cover in the blink of an eye. An effective system when you think of the value of lives it saves. they have more advantages like these, "LCPL Chad Codwell, from Baltimore, Maryland, with Charlie Company 1st Battalion 5th Marines, carries an experimental urban combat skateboard which is being used for maneuvering inside buildings in order to detect tripwires and sniper fire. This mission is in direct support of Urban Warrior ‘99.".

This was the beginning of a wave, not a huge one because of how seriously we REALLY see skaters, But a wave in the military i can for once say i support to the fullest extent.
